The Indian smartphone market is really busy right now as smaller OEMs like CENTRiC seek to take their fair share of the opportunities that avail themselves there before the big sharks like Xiaomi and OnePlus bare their fangs fully.
CENTRiC S1
Following the MWC, CENTRiC has released the CENTRiC S1, a budget phone that has been touted as a flagship killer (at least till Oppo or Redmi comes into the game) if the specifications and design are anything to go by.
Design and Display
The CENTRiC S1 brings in a bold design as it copies the Vivo NEX S in design. The smartphone has very minimal bezels and a very small chin.
At first glance, the selfie camera is missing, that is because CENTRiCopted for the pop-up selfie camera like the NEX S, giving it a very high screen to body ratio of 92% according to the manufacturer.
A vertical dual camera setup adorns the rear side of the smartphone alongside the LED flash. There is no noticeable fingerprint sensor as CENTRiC used an indisplay fingerprint sensor.
The CENTRiC S1 stands tall at 6.39 inch. The presence of the indisplay fingerprints confirms the display technology as AMOLED with resolution at 2340 x 1080 pixels and 19.5:9 aspect ratio.
The body is made with plastic and has a glossy finish to make it durable. It is available in Red and black colours.
Camera Setup
The CENTRiC S1 has three cameras, which consists of a pop-up selfie camera and a dual rear camera. The pop-up camera is 8MP which many may consider quite low while the other lens is a 16MP rear camera with LED flash, f/2.0 aperture, 6P lens, 5MP secondary camera and image resolution up to 4616 x 3464 Pixels.
Hardware Components
The CENTRiC S1 packs pretty decent hardware for the budget device. There is the Octa-core MediaTek Helio P70 AI processor fabricated with 12nm technology. There are Quad 2.1GHz Cortex A73 + Quad 2GHz Cortex A53 CPUs and it is also assisted by 900MHz ARM Mali-G72 MP3 GPU.
For memory, there is two variant of the CENTRiC S1 device. There is an LPDDR3 4GB of RAM space with 64 GB storage space variant and then the LPDDR4x 6GB of RAM Space with 128 GB storage space. Both variants support memory expansion up to 256 GB with a microSD.
Software and Battery
CENTRiC S1 runs Android Pie 9.0. It is powered by a 3800 mAh non-removable battery, with PUMP Express 3.0 fast charging technology and Wireless Charging.
