39 Smartphones With the Highest Screen to Body Ratio

Smartphones With the Highest Screen to Body Ratio

Screen to body ratio on a smartphone screen recently turned into an important thing to consider when comparing smartphones.

It became more important after Apple released the iPhone X; being the industrial trendsetter, other smartphone brands made sure that every high-end smartphone they pushed out into the market must have its bezels reduced to the lowest possible.

The trend also started creeping into entry-level smartphones and will soon start showing up on lower-end mobile phones.

The bezel is the name given to the frame around a digital product’s display.

It was an important feature that was put into consideration when comparing TVs, and over the years television producing companies have been shading down on bezels.

Then, there came the mad rush on smartphones; while in the search for greater innovations to spice up mobile phone technology, smartphone producers started shading bezels too to create smartphones that are looking more innovative, while increasing the screen to body ratio.

In this post, I will show you the top smartphones with the highest screen to body ratio. The brands behind these smartphones implemented their increased screen to body ratio very well.

19. Huawei Mate 10 pro

Huawei wasn’t that good with bezels right from, they’ve always tried to minimize their smartphone screen bezels right from the start. The Huawei Mate 10 pro also emphasized deeply on that.

The inch colourful AMOLED display that features an 80.9 percent screen to body ratio is cool but has a slight downside; it spots a lower screen resolution of 2,160 x 1,080 when compared to other smartphones that made it to this list.

The lower resolution was compensated with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and makes the resolution quite unnoticeable. A thin bezel at the top holds the speaker and the selfie camera while the thin bezel below holds the Huawei brand logo. It’s quite an impressive phone. Buy now on Amazon (aff).

20. LG V30 pro

LG did a great job with their G series line of phones, the G6 was a bomb, but while the V30 that followed was a bigger bomb, the pro version of it will blow your mind more.

With a screen to body ratio of 81.2 percent, the V30 Pro has made it to the top list of smartphones with the thinnest bezels and most increased screen to body ratio.

Samsung’s closest South Korean neighbours built the 6-inch display on the V30 Pro with a super OLED panel and with its screen resolution of 2,880 X 1,440 pixels, it boasts as one of the top smartphones with the sharpest display.

The top bezel was crammed up with selfie camera, numerous sensors including the iris scanner, proximity sensor etc. Galaxy note 8 in available on Amazon (aff).

The 5.8 inches on the younger sibling to the S8+ stretched all the way to the sides, leaving behind just a slim bezel that’s barely noticeable and a slight curve could be seen, there is a thin bezel at the top and bottom which made the screen to body ratio result to 83.6%. Buy now on Amazon (aff).

26. Xiaomi  Mi Mix

I wrote about the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 above as a successor to this product. The Mi Mix 2 has a lower screen to body ratio than this offer which happened to be among the first smartphones to implement an edge to edge display.

The launch of this phone was so dramatic, before its lunch, Xiaomi claimed to be producing a smartphone with a 91.3 percent screen to body ratio but when the phone launched it happened to feature an 83.6 percent.

While still appealing because it’s basically among the highest, I still imagine what a 91.3 percent screen to body ratio would have looked like on this device.

One thing I don’t like about the phone is the fact that they sacrificed the selfie camera’s most effective position and brought it to the thick bottom bezel. Xiaomi still deserves credit for being among the smartphone brands spearheading the edge to edge display trend.

28. Oppo Find X

Oppo really found their way to the top of the screen to body ratio charts when they decided to Find X and X was equal to 87.06 percent. This glossy beauty has absolutely no bezels and I must confess that Oppo is as daring as they are innovative.

The phone measuring 6.42 inch has AMOLED display and looks like a Samsung Galaxy clone with the curved screen and body.

Oppo uses a sliding mechanism that pops the whole top of the phone when you tap the camera icon, revealing the dual 16 + 20 MP rear cameras, and the 25 MP selfie snapper.

So at first glance, it may seem as if the phone has none. Oppo was able to achieve this ratio by ditching the fingerprint sensor for biometric face recognition though I still feel it may have been better if the fingerprint sensor was moved to the back. Available on Amazon (aff).

29. VIVO NEX S

Vivo new smartphone, the Nex S, brings in display designs that rival the Oppo Find X and even managed to add the fingerprint scanner. Measuring 6.59 inch, the device has a Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display. It also uses the sliding mechanism to pop up the top of the phone to reveal the selfie camera.

Unlike Oppo, Vivo didn’t ditch the fingerprint Sensor but kept it under the display which made it more daring, innovative, fanciful and superb, along with the full top screen not having bezels thus giving the device the maximum screen size possible.

The phone also has a technology that uses the display itself as a speaker. The screen to body ratio is 86 percent.

30. VIVO NEX A

Like its older mate above, the Vivo Nex A does well in the screen to body ratio charts with 86 percent on a 6.59 inch device, The difference between the Nex A and Nex S is that the Nex A has a fingerprint sensor mounted at the rear of the phone while the Nex S is built under the display.

The phone has P-OLED display technology and also 534 pixels per inch on its curved screen design. Buy now on Amazon (aff).

37. Samsung Galaxy S9

Samsung has always been a big player in this game and the company’s flagship smartphone for 2018, and the Galaxy S9 wouldn’t miss out for anything.
