MTN Uganda, Uganda’s largest telecommunications company, has teamed up with YoTVChannels to offer leading television shows of this type.
YOTVChannels is a mobile Internet solution that provides local multimedia content (TV and radio) and makes it perfectly accessible everywhere.
With over 50 local channels, YOTVChannels allows its users to enjoy local content at their convenience with the ability to stop, rewind, record, and catch up on lost shows for up to 24 hours.
Subscribing to the YOTVChannels app will provide users with unlimited access to local television and radio for a 30-day free trial period, subsequentially, when they switch to the subscription plan of their choice.
In announcing this partnership, Aggrey’s director, Mugisha YoTVChannels, noted that the partnership shows that MTN and YoTVChannels are committed to promoting local content, allowing Ugandans to enjoy local television and radio at their convenience easily via YOTVChannel.
Before Airtel released its live TV show and video on demand, MTN Uganda had partnered with YOTV Channels to do something similar, if not more, as some say.
Basically, the YOTV Channels app is a repository of mobile TV, radio, and VOD where users can enjoy entertainment while on the go.
Getting Started
You can download the YOTV Channels application from the Play Store for Android or iOS for iPhone, enter your phone number by which you will receive an OTP SMS to enter for confirmation.
As with the Airtel TV app, you need to secure yourself with an active data package that will allow you to broadcast and watch all the available channels.
First Impression
I thought that the application was straightforward to use, exciting, and quite rich in content.
Without an iota of doubt, the only bill you have to pay is the data packets you need to use because, without a stable connection, you can lose a lot.
The essential contents available in the application are series, films, radio, and television.
The Pros On The YoTV Channel
Some find it challenging to listen to the radio without headphones. Applying YOTV channels saved my day.
When I’m at home, and the music has to resonate on my favorite station while I’m writing articles, I have to focus and set the pace.
Besides enjoying live TV on the go, you can also watch the daily program with a clear guide to start from the menu.
Much of the local network is well integrated, with some international news channels even part of the agreement.
Video on demand is just as good at the start. I told you that you could save content in the app? You have 300 full minutes of memory to use.
There is also the possibility to control live programs that you will probably miss. When you pause a movie or show, you can run the form there the next time you open the app.
The Cons of YoTV Channels
The film section is minimal. It has just a few movies to watch, and most of them are in translation. I saw everything in the app in less than a day and wanted more, but I couldn’t.
It should register all radio stations, but it is not. Only a few are available. Update: YOTV channels have added more movies. The library is full.
Initially, there was no Ugandan content in the video-on-demand category. I saw a few on the Airtel TV app, but YOTV seems to have opted for international movies.
There was an update and now YOTV has added content from Uganda, and it’s fascinating. I hope I enjoy it more.
Without premium content, however, you wouldn’t expect premium content in a free app.

Conclusion
We would endorse it to those who like to listen to the radio without turning on the headphones. As well as fans of translated films and series, the YOTV Channels app completely covered it.
